 Movie Description
A struggling writer unlocks the full potential of his brain by taking a cutting-edge pharmaceutical, only to find that his newfound abilities have made him a target for some of the most greedy and dangerous men on the planet. Eddie Morra (Bradley Cooper) is an author without a novel. No matter how hard he tries, he just can't summon the inspiration to write a single word. That all changes when an old friend wanders back into Eddie's life, and opens his eyes to a powerful new drug called NZT. The moment Eddie takes NZT, his brain begins functioning at 100 percent, giving him the ability to quickly recall every event in his life down to the smallest detail, learn new languages in a flash, and harness the untapped power of complex mathematical equations. But when Eddie's supply of NZT runs out, the party is over. Of course, it doesn't take Eddie long to make a mint on Wall Street, and when he does, it draws the attention of Carl Van Loon (Robert De Niro), one of the world's most powerful and prominent businessmen. With Eddie's help, Carl plots to arbitrate a complex corporate merger that will shake the establishment to its very core. Just as the deal is about to be brokered, however, some dangerous characters discover Eddie's secret and come gunning for his dwindling supply of medicine. Now, if Eddie can just endure the debilitating side effects of NZT long enough to run for his life, he may just survive to see another day. (Courtesy movie.com)

The Female Perspective (Keyona's Review)

Well Chris and I went and seen Limitless this week. I didn’t really want to see it but it was either this or Dairy of a Wimpy Kid and I think we all know Chris would not see that one! I’ll just put it all out there. I really didn’t care for the movie at all! I’ve seen Bradley Cooper in other movies and loved him but it just didn’t wow me. I just couldn’t get into this movie.  I would have to say if we didn’t pay for this movie and it was just on TV I probably would have changed the channel. This all being said the story was written well and I understood and followed along really good. It was definitely something different. But there was just a lot going at once and was slow for me. I do however think the actors all did a great job playing their parts. Everyone seems to fit their characters well.  Even though, Bradley Cooper is the only I really know of.  But again, I would just suggest everyone just rent this. Although some people may like it because who doesn’t want to see someone take a pill and make $2 million bucks in ten days!!!

Overall 2 out of 5.

The Male Perspective (Chris' Review)

I was actually kind of excited to see this movie, anything that Bradley Cooper has been is I have liked and I mean come on Robert De Niro! The story also intrigued me, take a pill and access more of your brain, the story could go anywhere from there and the previews did not really tell much about the story in depth.

The previews did not show much of the story because there really wasn’t much a story. A guy takes this super pill and lets him access all of his brain and if he stops taking it he will die, pretty much the story.
There just wasn’t a lot of depth in the story and there were parts of the story that felt like they were just in there as fillers. Such as, the Russian mobster who loans the main character money, I mean what’s his deal? I don’t know!

The acting was good in this movie, Bradley Cooper does a good job playing a nobody that becomes a playboy. We’ve seen him play the playboy type before, and De Niro does a good job as well. But even his part doesn’t seem to fit in well, he just kind of appears, nothing really explained, other than a meeting set up from a new friend and because Cooper’s character made $2 million in ten days.

I spent the entire movie waiting for an explanation.  I was waiting for someone to show up and tell him about the drug and what he needed to do, or just a legitimate villain or bad guy. Once I thought we were reaching that part of the movie and the main plot or issue was going to arise and we were going to find out how it was all going to play out, roll credits. Pretty disappointed with this movie, but it is doing well in the box office so who knows. I personally would wait for DVD or go see it at the Palace, or whatever your local $2 movie theater is called in a month or so.

Overall 2 out of 5

  1. This is pretty disappointing. I was actually thinking this movie would be way cooler than the previews made it out to be.

You just saved me a bunch of bucks!
